FIA presidential candidate Tim Mayer has highlighted the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort as a model for motorsport’s sustainable and innovative future, welcoming the strong alignment of circuit co-owner Bernhard van Oranje with the FIA Forward programme of reform.
The Dutch Grand Prix, one of the very few F1 events delivered without government funding, has earned international recognition for its creativity and leadership. From pioneering public transport access to renewable energy solutions, Zandvoort has set new benchmarks in how major motorsport events can be run responsibly and successfully. As reported on the F1 website, the race was praised as “a pioneer for sustainable solutions that have inspired our events around the world as we drive towards being net zero by 2030.”
Tim Mayer said: “Sustainability and integrity must be at the heart of motorsport’s future, and Zandvoort shows how this can be achieved at the highest level. I welcome the alignmentof Bernhard’s vision with our own FIA Forward agenda. His commitment to innovation and long-term responsibility reflects exactly the kind of thinking that should guide the FIA globally. Together with the vital input from our Member Clubs, we will take these values forward to build a stronger, more transparent, and future-ready FIA.”
Bernhard van Oranje added: “The FIA Forward campaign is focused on creating a long-term roadmap for the FIA to be future-proof, globally relevant, and a leader in sustainability, mobility, and new income models. The FIA has a unique opportunity, and responsibility, to channel the immense innovation, engineering power and technology that motorsport produces toward solving real-world challenges."
As his campaign builds momentum, Tim Mayer met with stakeholders and fans in Zandvoort throughout the Grand Prix weekend, before continuing his global engagement with FIA Member Clubs.
